Information for patients

We are a private billing clinic, and your fees are payable on the day of attendance.

As we are a specialist medical practice, Medicare requires all patients who are wishing to claim a rebate for consultations to present a valid doctors referral at the time of your consultation. Any applicable Medicare rebate for your visit does not cover the full cost of your care.

If you are a new patient, please see your GP and request a letter of referral prior to your scheduled appointment with us.

If you are an existing patient of Perth Skin Specialists, please contact our staff to check the validity of your current referral for any subsequent consultations.

We are happy to see you without a referral, but please be aware that not having one means you’ll be unable to claim a Medicare rebate.

Please note that not all attendances for our services are eligible for a Medicare rebate (As per Medicare rules, where a consultation relates entirely to a cosmetic or other non-Medicare rebatable service, then that consultation is not rebatable under Medicare. Also, Medicare benefits are not payable for any procedures performed primarily for cosmetic reasons.  However, benefits are payable for certain procedures when performed for specific medical reasons).

An outline of specific costs for any procedures or treatments that you require, including any applicable Medicare rebates, will be provided as part of your formal consultation. (Although a guide of procedural / treatment fees can be provided by contacting us, please note that this may differ once you have been seen and assessed, as it may not reflect what will actually be applicable for your specific required care).

At Perth Skin Specialists we treat our patients with courtesy and respect and ask the same in return. We ask that at all times you treat our Dermatologists and all our Practice Staff with courtesy. Any acts of violence, aggression, abuse or harassment will not be tolerated, and will be grounds for us to terminate any continuing care.
